Women’s Business Network at Fujitsu

Fujitsu is Japan’s leading information and communication technology company and has a proud history working with Irish customers for over 50 years, providing a full range of technology products, solutions and services.  One of Fujitsu’s key corporate goals is ‘human-centric innovation’ where technology can enable smarter, sustainable societies. This influences all that we do and inspires us to create a better future.

We’re delighted to be shortlisted for the ‘Excellence in Diversity & Inclusion’ in the Chambers Ireland CSR Awards 2018 and to share some of our story with you.

Business in the Community Ireland

On the 10th November 2016, Fujitsu Ireland launched the Women’s Business Network @ Fujitsu. A concept which originally came from an all employee survey. In Fujitsu, just like the rest of the Tech sector, women have been under-represented in the workforce. This ultimately led Fujitsu Ireland to evaluating its Diversity and Inclusion policy which directed the formation of the Women’s Business Network at Fujitsu.

With leadership from our directors, Fujitsu Ireland’s Women’s Business network aspires to be ‘the place where women come to succeed’ so that it can support its members to relate, grow and thrive. Our ambition is to achieve 30% increase in female employment by 2020. Another key intention of the Women’s Business network @Fujitsu is to educate and inform women and men alike while also serving as a launch pad for employees to unlock the value of having a diverse organisation.

To date, our employees engage with our WBN@F through a programme of pre-arranged events and workshops. Some of our well received activities have included a Toastmaster and Presentation Skills evening. We have also hosted a series of  “A Day in the Life” workshops where successful female entrepreneurs shared advice with our members which they could build into their own career pursuits. Most recently, Fujitsu co-sponsored a Dublin Chamber event for International Women’s Day. WBN@F members engaged with 300 of Ireland’s most successful business leaders and female entrepreneurs to promote their internal network and foster new connections within a wider external network.

From its inception to date, the Women’s Business Network @Fujitsu has grown from strength to strength and all employees have benefited from its highly influential programme. This success shows our passionate and demonstrated commitment to increasing and promoting diversity in our workforce. We understand that greater gender diversity will improve overall business performance by enhancing team performance,  innovation, relationships with customers, and decision-making.
