New Communities Partnership and BITCI host a Migrant Expo and Job Fair for more than 700 migrant job seekers living in Dublin

3rd October 2018: New Communities Partnership’s Migrant Access Programme and Business in the Community Ireland’s EPIC Programme both support migrants and refugees to improve their job seeking and employability skills. These programmes highlight the excellent skills, qualifications, drive and resilience that migrants bring to Ireland.
Together, they are hosting the Migrant Expo and Job Fair from the 4th of October at the Dublin Institute of Technology, Aungier St. Dublin 2. This fair aims to help migrants find good quality employment and help employers access talented people they might otherwise miss.

It gives our new communities a great opportunity to interact with potential employers and the quality jobs that are available to them. It also helps to connect employers with a talented pool of people with diverse experiences and skills. Within the Government’s National Integration Strategy, employment is recognised as an essential step towards successful integration of migrants and their families, a key to ensuring they can reap the benefits of living in Ireland. I am therefore very pleased that government and EU integration funding is being used to support initiatives such as this.” said Minister David Stanton.
New Communities Partnership (NCP) is an independent national organisation of over 150 ethnic minority-led groups in Ireland that was set-up by its members 15 years ago with the mission to be an effective network, representing and empowering ethnic minority-led groups and individuals, at all levels, in order to influence positive change in policies that impact on their lives. For NCP, employability is a key aspect to ensure active citizenship and integration.
Business in the Community Ireland (BITCI) is an organisation that focuses on harnessing the power of Irish business to maximise its positive impact on all its stakeholders. It is a non-profit organisation specialising in advice and guidance to leading companies on corporate responsibility and corporate community involvement.
Both organisations have worked throughout the years, to identify challenges that ethnic minorities face in Ireland, and have directed all their efforts in responding to these challenges by promoting policies, and setting up various programmes and services to aid and influence effective responses to the needs of the migrant communities.
This year, NCP and BITCI joined forces to bring to life a unique event that will create a tailor-made space for migrants to access information and supports and will allow them to connect with employers, recruiters and relevant organisations in the job market. Most importantly, it will offer an opportunity for companies and recruitment agencies to meet with highly skilled and multilingual migrant professionals from different sectors.
With this event, both organisations also aim to present the positive impact of organisations working towards migrant employability in Ireland and to highlight the importance of inter-agency collaboration for the social inclusion and integration of migrants.
The Migrant Expo & Job Fair is part of NCP and BITCI’s continuous work towards the empowerment and inclusion of ethnic minorities in Ireland where individuals can achieve equality in economic, social, political and cultural aspects of Irish life.
