PwC supports Mental Health through “Localise” and “Green Light to Talk” initiatives

PwC, together with Localise, a youth development organisation, hosted a fundraising ‘Walk & Talk”‘ fundraising event with the students from local school, St Laurence O’Toole’s, Seville Place, Dublin 1. The event was in support of The Oasis Centre, a mental health service who offer suicide intervention training, counselling services and mindfulness courses. The success of the project, which was in no small part due to the students’ determination and hard work, was demonstrated by the generous donations received.

Speaking at the event, Feargal O’Rourke, Managing Partner, PwC, said:
“We are delighted to support Localise and the students in this important fundraising initiative and in doing so support the mental health services provided by ‘The Oasis Centre’ in the local community.  At PwC we recognise the importance of fostering a culture which encourages open conversations on mental health and empowers our people to ask for support when needed.  As always, working collaboratively on this project with the students in our local community was a positive experience both for our people and for the students as they develop their skills of communication, teamwork and project management – really important skills in both business and in life.”

Derek Cleary, Director of Services, Localise, added:

“We can see how the students have benefited from the project, which gave them the experience of working with a business and using their project management skills.  It is through working with local businesses such as PwC that communities can really grow and develop and this project showed the power of this collaboration.”
